Bespoke Interior Baluster

A collaborative effort between the homeowner, architect, and our internal design team allowed us to transform design concepts into reality for this recently remodeled private Connecticut residence. Using laser-cut plates, hidden wall fasteners, and architectural-grade powder coat, we were able to craft a truly distinctive and custom railing system from the basement to the fourth floor.

This bespoke interior baluster was designed not only to be functional but also to make a bold architectural statement.
The sleek, modern lines of the vertical steel rods complement the warm wood tones of the floating stairs, creating a seamless blend of industrial strength and natural beauty. Each metal baluster was custom-cut and finished with a durable powder coating, ensuring long-lasting resilience against daily wear while maintaining its aesthetic appeal.

The hidden fasteners provide a clean, uninterrupted visual flow, allowing the railing to serve as both a safety feature and a design focal point. The result is a staircase that is open and airy, making the space feel larger, while still offering structural support. This project highlights our ability to create custom metalwork that integrates with the architecture of the home, enhancing its overall design and function.

Ornamental Railings

In an effort to replace historic ornamental railings on the curved stairs of a local private school, the team at Continental Iron Works spent over 200 hours carefully templating, fabricating, and installing new railings that not only preserved the architectural integrity of the building but also provided increased safety to the students and facility.

This project presented unique challenges due to the curvature of the staircases and the need to replicate the original design while adhering to modern safety standards. Each railing was custom measured and templated to ensure a precise fit, maintaining the historic aesthetic of the building while enhancing structural durability.

Crafted from high-quality metal and coated with a protective finish, the railings are built to withstand the elements and provide years of reliable performance. The attention to detail in the fabrication process, combined with skilled installation, allowed for a seamless integration of the new railings into the building's classical design.
